I am excited to start off the new year and show you
how you can totally change up a space by adding some FABRIC.

I know that I have been posting alot about this recently,
but I just have some wonderful photos to share with you all!

I had so much fun doing this dining room!

We decided that it really needed a little more personality,
and FABRIC is a wonderful wayto pull in color and style---
as well as soften a space.

BEFORE

AFTER
Can you believe how much personality this room just got!

(Don't you just love that unique light fixture --- I would really like to find one for myself!)

See how the color really adds to the room.
The fabric softens the sides of the windows and ties in with the runner on the table.

When you coordinate stripes with a floral pattern
as long as they have the same colors, it works together nicely.

See how nice FABRIC is!
The curtains really did add some personality and warmth to this dining room.

Now go add a little fabric to your house---
and it's personality will just Blossom!

This is the third post on how fabric can really soften up a space!

BEFORE

AFTER
Look at what a difference the curtains made!
It dresses up the window and softens the hard lines of the window.

BEFORE

Notice how the touches of blue are brought around
the room with the curtains, the pillow and the
throw blanket on the end of the bed.

Now the room looks finished and it feels so inviting.

Here is the same shot--- but look what a little red pillow adds!
The rug has some red in it as well as some little bits
in the pillow and the bird prints.

I just wanted to show you a little different look.

Wow--- fabric really does make your world more comfortable!!

This is the second in a series of posts on Fabric.

BEFORE
This bedroom before really does look good ---
it just needed some fabric on the windows.

AFTER
We did just a little bit of fabric on the top of the two windows
and added a pillow on the bed with the same fabric as the new curtains.

It ties the space together nicely when you take similar fabric and
have it in different places around the room.

BEFORE

AFTER
The large window really needed to be softened
by adding the long paneled curtains it really warmed up the bedroom
and made if feel more inviting and comfortable.

Add a few curtains and pillows
and you will be amazed
at how comfortable and cozy your room will feel!

This post is a first, in a series on FABRIC
and how it really does make a home
FEEL so much more comfortable and COZY!

BEFORE
This bedroom has some beautiful furniture and great bedding,
but it just needed a little something more---

AFTER
What made the difference?

FABRIC

Curtains
Rug
Throw pillows
Throw blanket

(And of course see how much warmer it feels
with the lamp turned on!)

BEFORE

AFTER
Curtains really do soften a space and make it feel more inviting.
The throw blanket and pillow on the ottoman
help to create a softer welcoming feel.

Notice how we brought the colors and patterns around the room.
It helps to tie the space together.

The toss pillows on the bed have some solid colors and some pattern.
But 3 main colors --- Green, Brown, and White
The green pillow in the front has the same fabric as the curtains ---
we are moving that pattern and color around the room.

On the window seat we added more pillows with texture and pattern.
See how they do not all match but do look good together.

On the chair across the room notice the patterned pillows .

The curtains really do soften the space!

So add a little Fabric to your home
and it will FEEL more COZY!!

Fun Curtain Idea

I have a friend with three little boys and a new little girl.
She was so excited to decorate a little girl room.
She found one Pottery Barn curtain panel at a yard sale and
wanted to figure out how to add it to the room.
If you click on the picture to enlarge it you will be able
to see the detail a bit better.

She had already hung the pink satin panels and the sheer white ones.
We just decided to put the Pottery Barn panel with the flowers
right in the middle of the pink ones.
It fits perfectly --- and looks great with the light coming through the white
and the flowers really stand out .

It really adds to the "girlie" factor.

In my next post I will show you the rest of the room!

With just a few changes this living room is a cozy and comfortable space to be in.

BEFORE
The cedar chest in the bay window was made by the homeowner's husband, and we wanted to
keep it in that room.

She already had some great fabric elements---
pillows and a throw.

So what could we do to make it "feel" better?

AFTER
We moved the cedar chest and used it in a grouping to create a focal point with the shelf.

We added some height and natural elements to the shelf.

We brought the "count your blessings" sign under the shelf
and with the taller lamp it makes a nice unit.

The Curtains make a HUGE difference in softening the room.
The homeowner found some fabric on clearance
and cut it into three strips.
She just hung them on little iron posts above the window.

Wow --- it really warms up the room!

BEFORE
The shelf and the picture feel a little "high up" on the wall.

AFTER
Notice how we brought the picture above the couch --- down --- and added a couple of candle holders on each side.

It feels more as a "unit" with the couch.

BEFORE

AFTER

The cedar chest and shelf grouping makes a nice focal point in this Living Room.

We found another lamp and turned them on ---it really brings "LIFE" to the space.

Baskets are great for adding texture to a room ---
That is just one more layer in creating a Cozy atmosphere.

Curtain Panels

Curtains make such difference in creating a COZY feel.

I love simple panels that go from the ceiling to the floor, and down each side of the window.

When you buy ready made panels they are not usually that long ---
(if you hang them from the ceiling.)
But it is very easy to sew a piece of fabric (that goes with the room)along the bottom.

See in this room how they have different fabric along the bottom ---
It looks like custom drapes!

We have seen this photo before, but this time focus on the drapes ---
the curtains are from the ceiling to the floor.

Now this was just fabric stapled onto a couple of pieces of scrap wood
and screwed into the ceiling.
Big difference!

Simple, on a rod.

These do not go all the way to the floor, but it works.
It just depends on what look YOU like.

See how nice and custom they look with another piece of fabric
along the bottom.

These are hung with two small rods.

Notice how the fabric frames the window, it does not cover it.
This creates the illusion of a larger window.

These are hung by simple metal rings.

Curtain panels are a great way to add
Fabric to a Room!
