What elements do you see that make it work?
Notice the chairs, the shape and styles
The surfaces in the room are painted black, red, yellow,
and wood stained.
Even the fabric is different.
Yet it feels good.
Fabrics: The curtains and the runner on the buffet really soften the room. Also some of the chairs have fabric on the seats.

Pretty cool stuff, I saw this site with some useful info on antique dining chairs. I hope it helps you.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice and cozy room. I love all the little decorating details. And those curtains are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove the table with the eclectic mix of chairs..., the hatch though feels a bit large for the room.
ReplyDeleteHi Angela. I love you friend's dining room, too. More and more I'm loving the color combination they've used. I also love the mismatched chairs at the table. I think that's part of what makes this room so cozy!
ReplyDeleteOh and thank you for visiting me and leaving a comment.
Have a great weekend,
Arleen
My favourite piece in the dining room is the huge hutch. It's so big and impressive, but not overbearing. It's great how the mirrored section reflects the chairs, and the chinaware is nicely displayed. My sister-in-law would love that brown cow on the top shelf!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my interview with Jamie Drake. He really is an amazing designer. Good luck in our giveaway!!

Looks just like a family dining room - not a magazine photo shoot. Let's eat!
ReplyDeleteAm drolling of those chairs & the lamp.
ReplyDeleteNice & cosy, indeed! I do love thing doesn't much. I been living in a coherent house, so guess I need an extreme make-over-
TY for the tip...
Very cozy! Mission accomplished:)
ReplyDelete"Cozy" is what I always strive for. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHello, thanks for stopping in to visit! I'm so glad that I came over! You have a wealth of information here! I agree with Terry, so many rooms are unpractical and look too staged for a photo shoot! What about living in those rooms? LOL! I like your approach. I have an art room that could use some help!LOL! It has to double as a guest room because it's the only other room we have! Just two bedrooms here.....we lost one when we remodeled and opened up rooms downstairs.....and had to change the stairway. I'll bet the clouds you painted on your daughter's ceiling are adorable. I was thinking about doing that in my kitchen! Have a great day designing! I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteHi Angela,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog. It is always so great to find others interested in Redesign. To me it is being green at its best!
Thank you for your kind words about our kitchen. It has been fun! Married 41 years helps on the marriage aspect of the remodel. We did this once before in this house many years ago and it did not go as smoothly. Live and learn! I am adding you to my blogroll, your blog looks interesting and fun! I'll be back! You can click on my profile photo on my design blog to go to my regular blog if you are so inclined.

I love your dining room. We were planning to decorate our dining room and getting rid of all those old stuff because we were thinking of using more modern pieces and we bought everything we need about dining room furniture at Ballard Designs.
ReplyDeleteThis is my Brother's house and Lisa is amazing. I find their whole house warm and cozy.
ReplyDeleteShe has such a great style, seriously you should see the rest of their house!
