If you want to create a cozy space in a
large room this is what you do...

BEFORE

AFTER
 1. Move the furniture away from the walls.

AFTER
 2. Create a conversation area by placing
the furniture closer together, it is always nice to
add a rug it anchors the furniture.

BEFORE
The couch looks a little lonely on that big wall,
even the large artwork feels isolated
in the middle of the large space.

AFTER
3. Bring the artwork down so that it
fits with a group, the table, lamp and chair.

AFTER
4. Add a lamp or two, this creates a
warmer more intimate atmosphere.

AFTER
5. Add a few patterned pillows that use
the colors you have in the room.
This helps tie the room together.

See what a difference it can make!
Now you have a warm inviting room.

Go and see what you can do in
your own space with these simple tips!!

Here is the other side of the room on the previous post!

BEFORE

 AFTER
See how we made a grouping with the piano,
the clock and the art work.  It created a "unit" on that wall.
A place to let your eye rest.

Sometimes just a change up and rearrange can make all the difference.
Putting the furniture on an angle can create a more cozy feel.

What can you do to cozy up your space?

In this redesign,  my camera battery just gave out---
but I was able to give you a quick before and after.
Here it is:

BEFORE

AFTER
See what changes we made:
 1. Putting the furniture a on an angle,
creates a conversation area
2. Added fabric, the rug, the throw blanket and pillow,
soften the space and make it cozy
3. The pot of twigs on the side table, adds height
as well as a natural element.
4. The three owl prints hanging vertically,
fits the scale of the room better.
5. A lamp in the corner,
creates a warm glow to the room, as well as height.

And this was all done using what she had in her home already... Sooo Fun!

What can you  do to change up your space?

p.s.  I will show you the other half of the room soon!

A couple of chairs so you can create a conversation area.

We added:
 Accessories to the shelves.
Books as well as other decorative items.

The Room now feels complete and is a place

I loved this dining room---it feels cozy to me.

It has a fresh feel with the light green paint and the
light colored table and chairs.
I am looking for new dining room chairs andI really like the
 fabric with the nail heads.

Notice the curtains with a patterned style of fabric
sewn on the bottom.
This gives you a custom look and makes the curtains longer
so that you can raise the rod closer to the ceiling and get a
more dramatic look as well as create a
visual that the window is larger.

This bathroom floor was so clever!
The copper color of the pennies gives it such a rich varied look.

I will post a few more of my favorites next time.

I just wanted to post a few of my favorites from this year's parade.
This bedroom FEELS so calming...

Love the neutrals and whites.

Nice entry---there were a lot of grey greens this year.

This wall is so interesting---it is 3 dimensional,
the wall is painted brown and has white painted mdf board
attached to the wall in a striped pattern.
Cool...

A little closer look.

Loved this round window in the shower!
There was alot of vertical tile decor going on in the bathrooms.

I will post a few more photos in my next post.
See you then.

When you are redesigning a Bedroom
the focal point of the room should be the Bed.

BEFORE

AFTER

How do you make the bed the focal point?

      1.   Layers on the bed---pillows and bedding.
      2.   Something above the headboard that helps
to draw your eye to the bed.
3.   Lamps on each side of the bed create
a warm and inviting feel to the space.

A few accessories on the night stand also add to the focal point.

See what you can do to make your bed more of a focal point!
